The Predatory Culture of the Good Guy

Now, I may have promised myself that I’d return to more “nerdier” content, but nonetheless, this is a topic I wanted to talk about for quite some time now. I’ve been in multiple internet discussions and Facebook chats about the subject and I feel like at this point, I’m more than capable of discussing the “nice guy.” As someone who considers myself to be a guy, I come with qualification!

Don’t Nice Guys Deserve Romance? Television Says They Do

No, everyone does not deserve romance and I stand by that opinion. Let’s assume there was a guy(A) and A decided to walk up to Jennifer and ask for sex. That’s horrible. Now imagine guy(B) plotting to form a deceitful friendship with Jennifer for the sake of getting in her pants. When B is denied and turned away, his sense of entitlement comes to the surface in the form of, “females(they love this word) do not like good men!”

Shows like the “Big Bang Theory” benefit from perpetuating “good misogyny” to an audience who more than likely wouldn’t think beyond the surface level comedy that the show provides, and that isn’t a bad thing, I personally think the world would be a much more miserable place if everyone analyzed everything with great detail — there are entire careers dedicated to people who want to do that.

So even if you deserve love, you sure as hell aren’t entitled to it.

Look at these fuc*in’ nerds.

Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing

Here’s something dangerous to think about — imagine how many times you’ve read or watched a piece of fiction that portrayed the architype of the nerd as someone physically harmless? That’s not by accident. In most cases, their great contrast comes when they’re compared to a much “cooler” character in their respective universes, thus making them seem harmless and pathetic in comparison, which makes them unlikely to be held accountable due to the illusionary fragility they have.

There is no such thing as the “nice guy,” nice people are just nice by nature, not by intention.
